VS-2000CD

Imagine owning a 24-bit Digital Studio with the look, feel, and many of the same features as Roland's flagship VS-2480CD, but a fraction of the cost. Sound unbelievable? It's not. It's called the VS-2000CD, and it's waiting for you. The VS-2000CD is an 18-track digital recording studio with 8 tracks of simultaneous recording and professional sound quality. It sports a full-featured digital mixer complete with compressors and EQ on every fader, a full arsenal of effects processing, and a Mastering Room and Mastering Tool Kit for CD burning.

The best part is - with an optional VGA board - the VS-2000 provides the same graphic waveform editing and mouse control found in the more expensive VS-2480. And to top that, if you add a VS8F-3 card (or two...) you can have third party plug-ins from companies like Antares and Universal Audio! With a VS-2000CD as the centerpiece, your studio will only look like you spent thousands of dollars building it. Only you and your accountant will know the difference!

The VS-2000CD just might be the perfect V-Studio for the thousands of VS-880 and VS-1680 owners out there, as it easily recovers CDR song backups done on any of the older model Roland V-Studios. So if you're tired of being jealous of all those VS-2480 owners using a mouse and VGA to edit their music, read on. You, too, can be part of this special group.

Tracks & More Tracks
If you like to record bands, the VS-2000 is a dream-machine. Its professional-quality connectors include eight XLR inputs with switchable phantom power. Plus there are eight balanced line inputs on 1/4" TRS connectors for recording keyboards and sound modules. A dedicated Hi-Z Input provides a direct in for recording guitars and basses. The built-in tuner comes in handy to make sure all your tracks get recorded in tune, the first time.

Choose from any of the different physical inputs via the Patch Bay and record up to eight tracks at a time. The VS-2000CD provides 320 V-Tracks per song, so feel free to record take after take. Simply choose any 18 for simultaneous playback. Need more than 18 tracks? No sweat. Just use non-destructive track bouncing through the digital mixer, bounce up to 18 tracks down to a stereo sub mix, then start all over again with another set of tracks. With the VS-2000's V-Tracks, there's really no limit to how inventive you can get with your music.

How Did We Ever Live Without....
Solo songwriters, R&B producers and hip-hop artists will love the Rhythm Track that's built into the VS-2000CD. The Rhythm Track is a full-featured drum machine, complete with 9 different drum kits, hundreds of patterns, plus 100 different drum arrangements, ready for you to use in your song. It's really easy to use - just pick from one of 100 different arrangements based on popular music styles like Rock, R&B, Country, Ballads, then press PLAY. You can also use the built-in drum sound module to make your own unique drum patterns, then chain your own patterns together to make a song. Use what is already laid out for you, or do your own drum tracks. Either way, your drum tracks are covered.

But what about vocals? The VS-2000CD has that covered, too. The Harmony Tool adds up to 6-part harmony to your lead vocal track with stunning life-like clarity. Just tell the 2000 which track your lead vocal is on, and dial in your song's chord progressions in the Harmony Sequencer. The VS-2000 will then generate intelligent harmony parts that blend right in with your lead vocal track.

To make all the rest of your tracks sound great, the VS-2000's 40-channel digital mixer is fully automated. It has compressors and a 4-band EQ on every track, and the dedicated channel strip knobs make it easy to make settings. With the optional VGA board, you'll get a nice graphical EQ display, and you can even use the mouse to make EQ sweeps and tweaks. Or, simply reach down and turn the knobs. It's totally up to you how you "drive" this machine.

Special Effects
When it comes to effects, the VS-2000 shines. It has two stereo effects built in, and you can add up to four more by installing the optional VS8F-2 Effect Expansion Board, or the new VS8F-3 Plug-in Effects Expansion Board. The built-in effects include everything from amazing studio-quality reverbs, delay and chorusing, to vintage effect simulations, guitar and bass effects, as well as COSM Microphone, Speaker, and Guitar Amp modeling. All right inside the VS-2000 from the moment you take it out of the box.

When you install an optional VS8F-2 Board, you get more of these same effects to use simultaneously across your tracks. So you can have any 4 different effects running on some or all of your tracks at a time. But when you install the optional VS8F-3 Board - everything changes. The VS8F-3 enables the VS-2000CD to run 3rd Party plug-ins from companies such as Antares, IK Multimedia, and Universal Audio. It comes with five free plug-ins, then you can decide which third-party plug-ins to install in your V-Studio. Choose from some of the same cool plug-ins that musicians recording on computer-based systems use, but without the headache and hassle of, well, dealing with the computer.

The Finishing Touch
Once you've mixed your songs, polish them to perfection using the VS-2000's Mastering Room, Mastering Tool Kit, and comprehensive CD authoring tools. Create fully mastered Disc At Once CD's that you can send directly to a pressing plant for duplication. The VS-2000CD gives you total control of your recording project - from start to finish. This means you don't have to make any compromises in recording or mixing your next project - no matter how big or small it is.
