Roland kicked-off the new year in spirited fashion with its 3rd Annual Worship Arts Summit at the NAMM show on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006. With a morning and afternoon “service” in the Roland Showcase Theater, this Gospel celebration featured the recently Grammy-nominated music of Israel Houghton and New Breed.

Israel flew in from Nashville that morning just so he could play at the Summit. “It’s so great that Roland is doing this at the NAMM show,” said Israel. “It really shows how committed they are to serving the worship community, and I’m just blessed to be here.”

New Breed played a full array of Roland gear, backing up Israel as they played songs from their new double-album Alive, which was recorded live in South Africa last Fall. Additional tracks came from music director Jerry Harris’ VS-2400CD. “This machine goes wherever we do,” says Jerry. “We have horns, loops, and background vocals on separate tracks so we’re covered in every situation — it’s a life saver!”

Both performances were for a standing-room-only audience who never sat down as Israel and New Breed kept them clapping and singing throughout the entire set. The energy was palpable, and lifted the NAMM show to “another level.”
