Roland Corp US Hops on John Lennon Tour Bus

Los Angeles, California, May 10, 2005 — Roland Corporation US is happy to announce that when the John Lennon Tour Bus rolled into Mt. Vernon New York, the Roland team was there to lend a helping hand during this city-wide tribute to hip hop music and artists. Held at the Mt. Vernon City Hall Plaza on Monday May 2, and Tuesday, May 3, 2005, the two-day event included an inspirational Mayoral address, hands-on recording sessions, creative student performances, and a free Fatty Koo concert.

Conceived and developed in 1998 by executive director Brian Rothschild as an extension of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, the John Lennon Tour bus has provided free educational labs and tours to tens of thousands of high school and college students each year via local competitions, concerts and community events.

When the John Lennon Bus rolled into Mt. Vernon on Monday, six advanced music students were invited onto the bus where they showed the world what they were made of by recording their original pieces of music in the mobile recording and multimedia studio which included products from the Roland line.

"This was a truly exciting event and we're thrilled to have been a part of it These kids have amazing talent and watching them get into the production and listening to them creating their own sounds has been a remarkable experience," says Roland District Sales Manager Bob Duncan.

On Tuesday the Tour Bus was opened to the public so that anyone with an interest in music making could climb aboard and experience the latest digital technologies.

The BET television camera crew showed up on location to promote their latest reality show "Blowing Up!: Fatty Koo" Fatty Koo is a group of students from Columbus who were signed to Sony after participating in Capacity's "Summit for Oneness" and subsequently recording on the John Lennon Songwriting Bus in 2004. Fatty Koo have just become the stars of the newest hit reality show "Blowin' Up!: Fatty Koo" on BET. The show airs Thursdays 9:30 p.m EST, starting on April 21 and running for 13 weeks.
