Los Angeles, CA January 28, 2003—Roland is proud to announce that on January 21, 2004, the Museum of Making Music named its fifth gallery after Roland Founder and CEO, Ikutaro Kakehashi. More than 80 of Kakehashi's close friends and colleagues attended the gallery-naming celebration which took place at the picturesque Museum of Making Music facility in beautiful Carlsbad, California - also known as the Village by the Sea.Featuring more than 500 vintage instrument exhibits, performances and education outreach programs, the Museum of Making Music tells the remarkable story of the innovators and inventions that shaped popular music. As they walk through the galleries, visitors are treated to historic highlights such as Rickenbacker's "Frying Pan" - the first commercially available electric guitar - and Roland's groundbreaking VS-2480CD Digital Recording Workstation.
After an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, Roland US President Dennis Houlihan congratulated Kakehashi with a warm speech honoring his friend, and was followed by comments by Larry "Link" Linkin, President of Board of Trustees of the Museum of Making Music, as well as Joe Lamond, the museum's President and CEO.
