V-DRUMS V-COMPACT SERIES ANNOUNCED

New Kit Boasts High-Quality TD-3 Module, Expressive Pads and Cymbals

Anaheim, January 15, 2004—Roland is proud to announce the most affordable V-Drums® set ever, the new V-Compact™ Series TD-3S. This expandable kit includes the new TD-3 Percussion Sound Module with high-quality sounds and outstanding expressiveness, new dual-trigger pads and cymbals, plus an upright kick trigger, onboard rhythm training exercises and more. With the V-Compact Series TD-3S, Roland brings the V-Drums within reach of even more drummers.

The “brain” of this system is Roland’s new TD-3 Percussion Sound Module, which boasts 114 new and professional drum sounds, 32 kits, and a simple user interface. A new Phrase Preview function lets drummers audition different kits by playing a short riff. Drummers can enhance their drum kits using 15 types of built-in Ambience effects and compression. And with an enhanced version of Roland’s Rhythm Coach built into the module, practice becomes more fun and effective using several types of rhythm training exercises with variations.

The V-Compact Series TD-3S also includes a selection of high-quality pads and cymbals designed for maximum sensitivity and expressiveness. The kit comes with four PD-8 rubber pads for snare, toms and hi-hat. The time-tested PD-8 supports separate head/rim triggering on the snare and bow/edge triggering on the hi-hat. For cymbals, Roland includes two CY-8 dual-trigger Cymbal Pads with “swinging” motion and “choke” capabilities. A new vertical kick trigger, called the KD-8, provides more natural feel and reduced tremble—plus double bass pedal compatibility. And with Roland’s reliable FD-8 Hi-Hat Controller, drummers can play smooth hi-hat sounds from open to closed or anywhere in between.

Rounding out the set is the MDS-3C stand, which comes with a durable design and stylish black finish that perfectly complements the pads and cymbals. There’s never been a better time to get into the V-Drums!
