ROLAND CO-HOSTS HAL LEONARD PIANO DAY SPA 2003

Helping Expand the Journey

Los Angeles, Calif. Oct. 1, 2003—Roland Contemporary Keyboards is proud to announce that it co-hosted the third Hal Leonard Piano Day Spa of the summer on September 20, 2003.The unique Day Spa event--- which has been enormously successful in numerous cities throughout the United States--combined elements from traditional piano workshops with the nurturing environment of a real spa. Designed to restore balance and re-energize attendees for a new year of teaching, the Piano Day Spa 2003 inspired teachers to discover new opportunities, explore their potential and follow the path to being the best piano teacher possible.

Throughout the action-packed day, Day Spa participants were treated to a host of soothing spa activities. Hal Leonard clinician Barbara Kreader kicked off the day by demonstrating how CD and GM disk accompaniments can serve as powerful musical models that inspire students to perform with enthusiasm, poise and passion. In a creative hands-on session, spa clinician Mona Rejino encouraged attendees to firm and tone their teaching skills with musical toning exercises that encourage teachers to meet the challenges of teaching the classics with confidence and youthful enthusiasm. Clinicians Lynda Garcia and Fred Kern wrapped up the Day Spa by showing attendees how to develop their musical "personal trainer" skills. Through the use of interactive accompaniment disks (Standard MIDI files) participants learned how to help students achieve greater success at home by encouraging productive "away from the teacher" practice sessions guaranteed to bring students even greater confidence when returning to the studio for their weekly lessons.

"It is always a privilege and honor to work with Hal Leonard on such a prestigious event, " says Lynda Garcia of Roland Corporation US. "It was a uniquely rewarding experience. The event provided teachers across the state of California and other parts of the country with an unparalleled opportunity to work with the internationally distinguished Hal Leonard cadre of composers. It promises to continue with subsequent Piano Day Spas in different regions of the country."
