New AD-8 Turns Piezo Guitars Into Six High-End Acoustics

Nashville, July 18, 2003—BOSS is proud to announce the AD-8 Acoustic Guitar Processor, a floor-based unit that uses COSM modeling technology to transform the piezo pickup sound of an ordinary acoustic into six of the world’s most sought-after acoustic guitars—including the popular “miked” acoustic sound. The versatile AD-8 comes with pro-quality reverb, 4-band EQ, a Tuner function and preset memories, making it an essential tool for recording and performance.

Thanks to the AD-8’s COSM technology, guitarists can turn their piezo-equipped acoustic guitars into the warm sound of a fine, miked acoustic. Six different acoustic guitar models are provided, including guitars from Martin and Gibson. The AD-8 can also simulate “miked” acoustic sounds via its Body and String Enhance controls.

The AD-8’s high-quality reverb is tailored specifically for acoustic guitar. Settings range from a touch of ambience all the way to rooms and halls. A 4-band equalizer lets guitarists shape their tone for any style of music or venue, while Auto Anti-Feedback eliminates annoying feedback problems. Other convenient features include a built-in chromatic tuner and User memory for storing custom settings.

In addition to unbalanced stereo outputs and a dedicated Electric Guitar Amp output, the AD-8 comes with a pair of balanced XLR outputs that are not only DI-complete, but include a ground lift feature for eliminating hum. Connections to the AD-8 include a 1/4-inch Input jack, a 1/4-inch Electric Guitar Amp output, a pair of 1/4-inch stereo outputs, plus a pair of balanced XLR stereo outputs and a stereo Headphones jack.
