ROLAND CREATES FIRST MUSIC TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM
New Music Mentor Series Helps Teachers Demystify Music Technology
Los Angeles, Calif., January 24, 2002 – Roland Corporation is proud to announce the three- volume Music Mentor Series, a simple method for teaching music technology written by Dennis Mauricio, an award-winning teacher with over 16 years of experience using music technology in the classroom. The first volume, An Easy Method for Teaching Music Technology, will accompany the Roland RS-5/9 and XP-10/30 keyboards as well as new Roland synthesizers as they are introduced to the marketplace.Until now, the market has been flooded with general texts on technology that were vast on technological information and short on product-specific knowledge. The new Roland Music Mentor Series, designed to accompany Roland products, helps teachers learn with their students, eliminating hours of preparation time as well as the stress of learning a new product.
Roland's Dealer/Market Development Coordinator Debra Barbre relates, "With the Music Mentor Series, we are offering teachers of music technology all of the tools that they need to be successful. While there are many methods available for piano training, few teaching methods exist for technology and no teaching methods exist that are keyboard-specific. Our new Music Mentor Series addresses that need."
Volume One, An Easy Method for Teaching Music Technology, meets the National Association for Music Education’s National Standards for Music Technology and is available now at a cost of $199. It includes hands-on lessons for the classroom, step-by-step instruction using Roland keyboards, an informative CD set featuring music exercises and performances, MP3 audio files and dozens of classroom tips. The second and third volumes in the Music Mentor Series are currently under development.
Author Dennis Mauricio is an educator and author of "The Fundamentals of Music Technology."
Roland is a world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of electronic musical instruments, professional audio equipment, multimedia products and music accessories.
