CORY PESATURO AND THE ROLAND V-ACCORDION TAKE TOP HONORS AT COUPE MONDIALE
Los Angeles, CA, September 17, 2009 — Roland Corporation U.S. is proud to announce that virtuoso accordionist and Roland artist Cory Pesaturo has taken first place in the Digital Accordion category at the 2009 Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Championships.
Cory earned top honors while performing with the FR-7 V-Accordion®, the flagship instrument in Roland’s revolutionary digital accordion lineup. His victory represents the first international competition win by an accordionist from the United States in over 25 years.
The Coupe Mondiale is the most prestigious and respected international accordion competition in the world every year, attracting the finest accordionists from around the globe to compete and perform. Each year, a different country plays host to the annual competition, with this season’s event held August 25-29, 2009 in Auckland, New Zealand.
The final night at Coupe Mondiale is a gala concert event that features performances by the seven category winners. During that show, Cory and the FR-7 V-Accordion wowed a large audience at Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre Auditorium.
2009 was the inaugural year for the Digital Accordion category at Coupe Mondiale, and its inclusion is a testament to the popularity of Roland’s V-Accordion technology among the international accordion community. The V-Accordion combines the great playing feel of a traditional handcrafted accordion with the many conveniences of a modern digital instrument, such as a wide array of accordion and orchestral voices available at the touch of a button, easy amplification, and much more.
Cory Pesaturo is recognized as one of the world’s finest young accordionists. A graduate of the esteemed New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, he was the first musician there to major and graduate in the accordion. His extensive resume includes a 2002 National Accordion Championship victory and multiple performances at the White House.
