When the VS-20 hardware is connected to a different USB port on your PC, the VS-20 Editor software may prompt an "Unable to read/write data" message. The following procedure will restore communication between the VS-20 hardware and the VS-20 Editor software.
- Be sure that you have completely connected the USB cable to both the VS-20 hardware and a USB port on your PC. If the cable was not completely connected, close and then reopen the VS-20 Editor software. If the message continues to appear, it is possible that the VS-20 Effect Control port has been lost.

- In the VS-20 Editor software, click on SETUP and then select “Set Up MIDI Devices…”

- The following dialogue will appear. Note that the currently selected “ports” are labeled “(Unconnected)”.

- Select the “VS-20 Effect Control” that is not labeled “(Unconnected)” for both the "Input" and "Output" drop down menus.
Note: Do not select “VS-20 DAW Control” for either "Input" or "Output".

- Click “OK” to close the dialogue box.

- Press any button on the VS-20 Hardware to re-establish connection between the VS-20 Hardware and the VS-20 Editor software. When connection is restored, "MIDI reconnected" will appear.
