The following procedure can be used to clear the internal memory and reload the factory settings of the R-05. After purchasing a new SD memory card for use in the R-05, the formatting procedure must be performed in order to use the card with the recorder. This procedure can also be used to alleviate fragmentation on an SD memory card.

R-05 Transferring Files From an R-05 to a Computer (Backup)

1. With power off, insert an SD memory card.
2. Power on the R-05 and then press the MENU button.
3. Press the down arrow button to cursor down to "SD Card" on the screen and then press the [REC] button .
4. Press the up and down arrow buttons  to cursor to "Format" and then press the [REC] button .
5. Press the right cursor button to select "Yes" and then press the [Rec] button . "Now Processing" will appear in the screen. When the unit reverts back to the previous screen, the SD card will now be formatted and ready for use in the R-05.
6. Press the MENU button repeatedly to exit to the main screen. You are now ready to begin recording.
