Interactive Displays in Los Angeles, Nashville, and Mississippi Bring Music Making to\u00a0the Masses<\/h2>\n

Roland is pleased to announce that our ongoing educational partnership with the GRAMMY Museum continues to evolve and grow. Since 2009, Roland LIVE<\/em>\u00a0has been a popular exhibit at the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles, and it\u2019s been recently refreshed with the latest gear and new interactive displays. Just last\u00a0month, the GRAMMY Museum opened a new location in the heart of blues country\u2014Cleveland, Mississippi\u2014and Roland LIVE<\/em>\u00a0can be found there as well. In addition, the museum invited us to install a new Roland LIVE<\/em>\u00a0exhibit at the GRAMMY Museum Gallery, which is part of the Musicians Hall of Fame in downtown Nashville.<\/p>\n

Each year, the GRAMMY Museums host thousands of students and music lovers, where they\u00a0gain a greater knowledge of the music\u00a0artists\u00a0who have influenced art, film, media, and culture through their groundbreaking\u00a0recordings and performances. As part of this experience,\u00a0Roland LIVE<\/em> installations\u00a0provide a\u00a0hands-on environment for\u00a0education and music making, with real musical instruments used by GRAMMY artists in studios and on concert stages throughout the world.<\/p>\n

The interactive displays in\u00a0Roland LIVE <\/em>offer access to\u00a0a diverse range of Roland and BOSS music gear, including guitar\u00a0effects pedals, the HPi-series digital piano, the VE-5 Vocal Performer, V-Drums\u00a0and Handsonic percussion, and even an\u00a0AX-series keytar. Each instrument area is fully interactive and does not require any prior experience or musical ability.<\/p>\n

The guitar area in Roland LIVE<\/em>\u00a0explores\u00a0the enduring\u00a0pursuit of guitarists from every generation:\u00a0creating the ultimate\u00a0tone. A\u00a0special guitar that\u00a0anyone can play\u00a0is\u00a0connected to a series of landmark\u00a0BOSS guitar effects<\/a>, which have been used by numerous stage and studio artists to create some of the most iconic guitar sounds of all time. By pressing the buttons on the guitar, guests\u00a0can \u201cplay\u201d famous guitar riffs while turning pedals\u00a0on and off to experiment with different types of tones.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0the microphone in the vocal area, anyone can take center stage and sing lead vocals, complete with harmonies and other exotic sound effects. The BOSS VE-5<\/a> Vocal Performer provides the vocal processing, and users can explore all types of different\u00a0effects to captivate the crowd.<\/p>\n

Of course, no stage would be complete without a drum kit. The TD-11KV<\/a> V-Drums set allows drummers and non-drummers alike to sit down and experience the rich history of drums, from early instruments\u00a0and\u00a0orchestral percussion\u00a0to\u00a0classic\u00a0jazz and rock sets and newer sounds\u00a0used\u00a0in modern\u00a0pop, hip-hop, and electronic music styles. Even hand percussion is represented with Roland\u2019s HandSonic HPD-20<\/a>, where users can play a huge range of mainstream percussion\u00a0like\u00a0congas, bongos, tambourines, and shakers, as well as world percussion instruments from\u00a0India, Africa, and Asia.<\/p>\n

With a history spanning more than\u00a0300 years, the piano continues to be a major influence on many styles\u00a0of music. Roland has played an important role in the development of modern piano technologies, and\u00a0the HPi-50e<\/a>\u00a0at Roland LIVE<\/em>\u00a0lets visitors\u00a0enjoy a top-class\u00a0digital piano, complete with a built-in display for music notation. For keyboardists who\u00a0want to venture out\u00a0from behind the piano and go\u00a0mobile, they\u00a0can step\u00a0up to\u00a0the Lucina<\/a> keytar and go downstage with all types of cool synthesizer sounds.<\/p>\n

The story of hip-hop and dance music\u00a0can’t be\u00a0told\u00a0without legendary Roland rhythm machines and synths. Each Roland LIVE<\/em> exhibit features\u00a0a dedicated electronic music stage complete with a selection of Roland\u2019s popular AIRA<\/a> instruments, all\u00a0ready for action! With all the gear on display to make booming beats, monster bass lines, soaring synths, and ear-bending\u00a0vocals, visitors\u00a0can rock the club with\u00a0grooves and\u00a0sounds from old-school to modern and beyond.<\/p>\n

The new GRAMMY Museum Gallery exhibit at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville also includes the\u00a0Roland LIVE<\/em> Studio, which allows\u00a0visitors\u00a0to step into\u00a0the\u00a0inspiring experience\u00a0of creating music in collaboration with others. This room is outfitted with a complete band\u00a0backline so musicians can rehearse, create, and jam together with no holds barred. There’s a bass with ME-20B<\/a> multi-effects, a guitar with ME-80<\/a> multi-effects, an RD-64<\/a> piano, a TD-11KV<\/a> V-Drums kit, and a mic with\u00a0VE-5<\/a>\u00a0vocal effects. Everything is routed into the HS-5 Session Mixer<\/a>, so everyone can hear one another with their own custom mixes on headphones.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Roland LIVE<\/em> Studio features two V-Drums kits that are dedicated for interactive drum lessons with none other than Ringo Starr.<\/p>\n
