Roland at CIMMfest 2016
Chicago Festivalgoers Explore the Latest Roland and BOSS Music Gear
The Roland/BOSS spring gear tour recently landed in Chicago, where we teamed up with CIMMfest (the Chicago International Music & Movies Festival), a popular annual event that just celebrated its eighth year. During CIMMcon, the festival’s regional industry conference, we hosted an interactive musical instrument display within Galerie F, Chicago’s first street art and gig poster gallery. Located at the heart of the festival in Chicago’s historic Logan Square neighborhood, our display offered visitors a unique, hands-on opportunity to make music and interact with the latest Roland and BOSS instruments.
Roland and BOSS at Galerie F

The Roland/BOSS display at CIMMfest 2016 was located within Galerie F in Chicago’s historic Logan Square neighborhood.
At Galerie F, a wide variety of the latest Roland and BOSS gear were set up for musicians to jam on, including V-Drums, AIRA instruments, Roland synths, BOSS pedals and guitar synths, and more. Our product specialist team was also on site to answer questions and provide hands-on instruction.
Roland’s CIMMcon instrument gallery was the third leg of the Roland/BOSS spring gear tour, following the Southwest Invasion VIP Lounge at SXSW and the backstage artist lounge during the Academy of Country Music’s ACM Party for a Cause Festival.

The Smart Studios Story
The festival also featured the Chicago premiere of The Smart Studios Story at a special opening-night screening. Written and directed by Wendy Schneider, the film is a documentary about Butch Vig and Steve Marker’s legendary recording studio in Madison, Wisconsin, where the Smashing Pumpkins’ Gish, Death Cab for Cutie’s Plans, and tracks from Nirvana’s Nevermind were recorded. A special after-party at the Metro followed the screening, which featured a reunion of ‘90s alternative rockers Catherine.
Roland also attended The Smart Studios Story launch party in Burbank, CA, in February. Check out photos of that event at our Flickr gallery.
