Fifth-Annual Competition Celebrates the Fast-Changing Landscape of Online Radio

Mixcloud, the digital audio streaming platform that’s reinventing radio for listeners and audio creators, has just announced the winners of the 2018 Mixcloud Online Radio Awards. Roland was proud to partner with Mixcloud for the competition, which spanned 29 categories split into four groups: Best Online Music Show, Best Online Radio Station, Best Online Talk Show, and Best Online Radio Personality. The 22-member judging panel was comprised of leading journalists, radio hosts, and entertainment industry veterans, including Roland’s own Nick de Friez, Global AR Product Manager for DJ, dance, and synth products.

At the 2018 NAMM Show in January, Roland and BOSS presented Lifetime Achievement Awards to synth-pop and electronic music pioneer Thomas Dolby and guitar virtuoso, artist, and producer Steve Vai. These annual awards recognize innovative music artists for their important contributions to the industry while using Roland and/or BOSS gear throughout their careers. Dolby and Vai join an exclusive group that includes past recipients Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Andy Summers.

Roland’s popular FP-90 Digital Piano is the subject of an in-depth review in the Spring 2017 issue of Acoustic & Digital Piano Buyer. The semiannual publication is one of the leading resources for prospective piano buyers, providing a wealth of valuable information about choosing the ideal instrument, whether digital or acoustic. Reviewer Stephen Fortner spoke highly of the FP-90’s great sound, features, and price, saying, “The modeled pianos punch way above this instrument’s price class. The last few months have been very busy for Roland and BOSS. In September, we introduced over 30 new products during “The Future. Redefined.” online event, and followed that up with many more product launches at the 2017 Winter NAMM Show and CES 2017. To start, the customer response has been fantastic. Roland is proud to announce that Rebecca Eaddy was honored at the recent She Rocks Awards at the 2017 Winter NAMM Show. Rebecca is the Marketing Communications Manager at Roland Corporation U.S., and she shared the stage with music icons Lita Ford and Ronnie Spector, plus other esteemed 2017 award winners. The She Rocks Awards honors women from diverse corners of the music industry, from performers, engineers, and producers to key women at manufacturers, dealers, record labels, media outlets, and more.
