Roland’s Aerophone is a groundbreaking digital wind instrument that opens a new world of expressive possibilities for saxophonists and other wind players. First introduced in late 2016, the standard Aerophone AE-10 features a handsome white finish that really stands out on stage. While this model continues to be very popular, some players have requested a darker look for a more understated appearance. With the Aerophone AE-10G, that option is now here! Aside from its sleek graphite black finish, the AE-10G offers all the great sounds and playability of the original AE-10 model, which remains available as well.

About the Roland Aerophone

Roland’s trailblazing Aerophone fuses traditional playability with all the benefits of modern technology. Equipped with a key layout that’s similar to an acoustic saxophone, it’s an easy transition for any sax player. The mouthpiece features an ultra-responsive breath sensor, plus a bite-sensing reed for controlling vibrato, pitch, and other musical expressions.

The Roland Aerophone features traditional saxophone fingering, allowing sax players to feel comfortable playing the instrument right away.

Acoustic Instrument and Synthesizer Sounds Built In

The versatile Aerophone includes a wide selection of professional sounds, with authentic response and maximum expressiveness realized with Roland’s SuperNATURAL technology. Soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone sax sounds give saxophonists all the tones they need, making it unnecessary to carry multiple instruments to gigs. There are many other acoustic instrument sounds as well, including clarinet, flute, oboe, trumpet, violin, and more. Modern and classic synthesizer sounds derived from Roland’s famous keyboards are included too, and all have been specially tailored for wind instrument performance with fully optimized breath control.

Compact and Battery Powered

The ultra-mobile Aerophone can be powered with six AA-size batteries, and comes equipped with integrated speakers for monitoring the sound. There’s also an output jack for quiet practice with headphones or connecting to an external amplifier or PA when performing. There’s even an input for jamming along with backing music from your smartphone or music player.

Using headphones, Aerophone users can play and practice anywhere without disturbing others.

Music Production and Remote Editing

With its built-in USB-MIDI interface, the Aerophone easily connects to a computer for playing soft synths and recording MIDI tracks in a DAW. Breath control provides a much greater range of expression than any keyboard controller can provide, bringing new depth and dimension to your musical productions.

There’s also a free Aerophone Editor app available, allowing you to customize sounds, create tone lists, and more from an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet.
